I've made my first ever fanvid with Movie Maker and wow, they take a lot more effort than I thought (probably also because I was so nooby at it)
I have a whole new respect for people who make them.

VSA was how I discovered Arashi so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Here's one from the vault. I think it has been subbed in the past but I've never come across it (and had the links still working).
Update: I've found that this has been subbed previously. Ah well, you have a choice now don't you?
Sorry for the bad quality of video and sound but I downlaoded this some time ago and couldn't find anything better.

Arashi talk about Spring and generally giggle and muck around.
What does Ohno promise to show Jun? (hint: it's really big).

A big thank-you to zobocamel once again for translation and subs.

This is just a short sub to celebrate MJ's 33rd birthday (and for those of us who are missing Miyama sensei). Bring on a season 2 or SP pretty please!
It's mostly just quick promotional grabs but cute just the same. I like it how Jun feels the need to quantify how tall Aoki Munetaka is.

Q. What is better than a CM featuring Matsumoto Jun?
A.  A CM featuring 7 Matsumoto Jun's!

Oh no. The more the merrier, I say (you lucky God, you)

I haven't seen this CM and making of subbed yet, so the lovely zobocamel promised to do it for my birthday (which was last November...)

Credits to the provider of the raw (sorry, I've had this for some time and forgot where it was from).

Since google translate made this look confusing, the wonderful zobocamel has translated the fanlight instruction from http://ssl.johnnys-net.jp/japonism/page/index?guid=ON

Please also listen and look for cues from the stadium and the rest of the crowd to be sure when to turn the light back on.

I've decided to post this here just in case it can be helpful to anyone else.

The Lord of the Beanies.

An Arashi/Lord of the Rings parody.

Two of my favorite things; Arashi & Lord of the Rings. Each have something that bugs me.
Lord of the Rings had all that poetry and singing; which they thankfully edited heavily for the movie trilogy.
My Arashi ichiban, Matsumoto Jun, wears those bulgy beanies that make him look like Dopey from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
I thought that if I could mash up the two, we might just get rid of that beanie once and for all.

You don't need to have seen or read Lord of the Rings to understand this. Even though I have taken poetic license with the story line, there are a couple of spoilers, but you've probably heard them all by now. You will, however, need to know Arashi...But that's why you're here, isn't it?

It might be a good idea to enlarge your browser page to see it properly (LJ has such wide borders) and there are a couple of hidden goodies which you might miss. I'll fill you in at the end of the saga.

Starring:

So did you see them?
If not, I've got three words for you:
Freaking
Sauron
Uchiwas
Since Nino didn't get a lot of screen time, I decided to give him a bit more love & create the uchiwas.
I even left a bit of white in to make them stand out but they blend in with the crowd Orc armies A LOT.
Oh, and there was also one loyal minion who nearly mucked up their lines.

Thanks for reading & I hope you had some fun.

Where do the souls of all good puppets go?
Into a human host is my theory; to guide their careers and and continue in the entertainment industry.

I'm guessing it takes around two months to get paperwork in order in the puppet spirit world.
Either that or it took Mr Squiggle two months to find a suitable host.
Mr. Squiggle was cancelled in July 1999.
It just so happens that the Japanese Idol band, Arashi debuted in September 1999.

Mr Squiggle could have been attracted to any Arashi member for any number of reasons (I don't blame him. I am too)
It is my theory that he was drawn to the similar features of the very nadegata of Sakurai Sho.

That elongated Squiggle neck must have been a chore to carry around for fourty years.
It appears that Mr. Squiggle was seeking a head planted very solidly on those sloping shoulders.

It didn't take long for Squiggle habits to manifest themselves in Sakurai Sho.
One of Mr. Squiggle's best friends was Bill, the Steam Shovel.
Just have a look at Sho's face when he caught sight of the snow shovel on D no Arashi.

Sho liked to draw pictures.
Mr. Squiggle liked to develop illegible scribbles into somewhat recognizable forms. Quite often ducks.
Their passion continued to develop together.

* note: They also shared a love of umbrellas...But we all know how dangerous those things can be.

Mr. Squiggle was an Aussie kid.
And, as the jingle goes, 'Aussie kids are Weet-Bix kids'.
Old habits die hard.

Very soon, the moon had a strange pull over Sakurai Sho.

The final piece of evidence among all the space themes arrived with The Digitalian live concert.
The costume inspired by The Master

Lastly, behind every great marionette, there is someone pulling the strings.
I wonder who that could be?

My own mini AraFes.
Oh so hard to narrow it down to 10...and I'm not going to say that I've heard every song, but here goes.

1. Face Down.
What's better than one chorus but two? Perfect song. Perfect video. Perfect live.

2. 5x10.
The boys perform this so well live and from the heart. I'll never grow tired of watcing this from the Beautiful World concert.

3. Ai wo Utaou.
I'm not usually one for love songs but this builds into an epic masterpiece. Sho's rap fits in really well.

4. Fight song.
I loved watching this develop on G no Arashi and the clip reminds me of all my fave moments from D & G no Arashi shows. Also for the way the boys have fun when performing this live.

5. Paradox.
Yes, I'm a perv (thinking of the video). It's a very punchy song. Slick. Manly. Mmmmmm.

6. Breathless.
This song develops from the quiet soft intro into desperation. I watched Platina Data because of this song & it didn't disappoint.

7. Endless Game.
Another haunting song that had me watching (this time the series of Kazoku Game). So cute the way Sho pronounces 'Endoless'.

8. Super Fresh.
I found this on the Popcorn live DVD and it has a meditative quality to it. The choreography fits in simply and beautifully.

9. Kaze no Mukou e.
Beautiful uplifting words & the first video I found that had Romanised Karaoke & I could learn to sing along.

10. One Love.
I first heard Arashi before I knew of Arashi when some transfer students came to our school & sung this song. I remembered it was such a pretty melody & then heard it 2 years later when I researched the boys after Vs. Arashi started showing on TV here. Serendipity.

There you go. So difficult to leave out so many great songs and who knows? This will probably change as time marches on.
